MONTHLY MINUTES FOR: 10 January 2023

The opening ceremony for a regular meeting was conducted in accordance with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ritual; the meeting opened at 1000 hours by Post Commander Charlie Spain. Commander Spain declared todays meeting an open meeting with guests and family members present. Opening prayers were given by Comrade Rodgers.

Commander Spain made the following temporary appointment: Comrade Tim Aukshun to serve as the ODD for todays meeting.

UNDRAPING OF THE CHARTER: The charter will be undraped at our next meeting for our departed comrade Larry Purdy, who passed away in December. This was necessary due to a last minute change of location for our meeting this month.


READING, REFERRING MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS: None

READING OF MINUTES: The Minutes from the December 12, 2022 meeting have been posted on the Post website and distributed via email. A motion to accept the minutes was made by comrade Aukshun, seconded by comrade Brozowski, no discussion, motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER’S REPORT: Due to this being declared an open meeting, no financial report was given. QM Aukshun informed the membership that we will be closing our PenFed account once we open and account with Navy Federal Credit Union.

A motion was made by comrade Aukshun to accept all committee reports, seconded by

comrade Brozowski, no discussion. motion approved.


REMEMBER OUR NATIONAL HOME:A prayer was said by Chaplin Rodgers, in remembrance of our National Home.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: A motion was made by comrade Dzurissin to donate 2000 pesos to the La Union Hash, seconded by Commander Spain, no discussion, motion approved.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

  • A motion was made by comrade Aukshun to donate 10,000 pesos to the widow of comrade Purdy, that recently passed away. Seconded by comrade Brozowski, no discussion, motion approved.
  • The next District 7 quarterly meeting is scheduled for February 16, 2023, hosted by Post 12130 in Cebu.
  • A motion was made by comrade Brozowski to pay the commanders travel to the Cebu District meeting, seconded by comrade Aukshun, some discussion, motion denied.

The meeting closed at 1050 hours in accordance with the VFW ritual.  The next Col B.J. Smith VFW Post 9892 meeting will be February 14, 2023 @ 1000, officers call at 0945.  Location: To be determined, we are exploring other locations in Bauang, La Union.
