MONTHLY MINUTES FOR: 02 February 2023

The opening ceremony for a regular meeting was conducted in accordance with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ritual; the meeting opened at 1000 hours by Post Commander Charlie Spain.  Commander Spain declared todays meeting an open meeting with family members present.   Opening prayers were given by Comrade Rodgers.

UNDRAPING OF THE CHARTER:  The charter that had been draped for Comrade Larry Purdy was undraped.

READING OF MINUTES: The Minutes from the January 10, 2023 meeting have been posted on the Post website and distributed via email.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by comrade Rogers, seconded by comrade Dzurissin, no discussion, motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER’S REPORT: QM Aukshun said that all is good. A motion to accept the QM report was made by comrade Aukshun, seconded by comrade Webber, no discussion, motion approved.

READING OF BILLS: P500 (monthly) for VFW use of C&A, P2,000 for pool league.

A motion was made by comrade Aukshun to accept all committee reports, seconded by

comrade Rogers, no discussion. motion approved.


REMEMBER OUR NATIONAL HOME : A prayer was said by Comrade Rodgers, in remembrance of our National Home.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS:

  • A motion was made by comrade Aukshun that the post should fund P3,000/mo. for the diaper program, seconded by Commander Brozowski, no discussion, motion approved.
  • April elections; Comrade Dzurissin nominated comrade Spain for Commander, comrade Spain has accepted.
  • Commander Spain discussed at length a conflict of scheduling with the Pup Tent meeting and the Post meeting, and how it affected the ability of Post members who were not Cooties to socialize after the meeting. Some post members had asked for the Pup Tent Charter to be surrendered because there was such lack of interest in the Pup Tent and its activities. The Pup Tent Seam Squirrel was in attendance and he offered to switch the time of the Pup Tent meeting with the Post meeting so that everyone attending could sit around and socialize following the Post meeting. Everyone seemed to agree with this.
  • A motion was made, seconded, and approved: That should the Pup Tent change the time of their meeting to 10AM, the Post would change the time for their meeting to 11AM. The Pup Tent did subsequently vote to change their meeting to 10AM.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

  • Commander Spain reinforced the need for members to report all services that they provide in the community, no matter how small. Additional community service projects will be discussed at the March 14th meeting.
  • Comrade Dzurissin mentioned that anyone interested in buying a psychedelic hash shirt should see QM Tim Aukshun
  • Commander Spain will speak with Bobby Reyes about Post items held at his house.

The meeting closed at 1105 hours in accordance with the VFW ritual.  The next Col B.J. Smith VFW Post 9892 meeting will be March 14, 2023 @ 1100, officers call at 1045.  Location: Crown & Anchor, Bauang, La Union.
